Samsung Digital Camera Once Again Recognized As A Technology Leader With The 2008 Tipa Award
The Samsung NV24HD premium HD digital camera made by Samsung Techwin (CEO: Changsuk Oh, www.samsungtechwin.com), a leader in the global digital camera industry through cutting-edge technology, won the TIPA (Technical Image Press Association) Best Ultra Compact Digital Camera award.
Established in 1991, TIPA is an association of 27 video-related technical journals from 11 European countries which annually takes image and video products announced in Europe and chooses excellent products from each field to give them TIPA awards. At the TIPA awards, groups of experts from each field perform strict and impartial inspections in a variety of divisions to choose the best products. Thus, it is called the ‘Oscars' of the image and video industry and is recognized as such an authority.

At the 2008 TIPA Awards, concerning the reason why the Samsung NV24HD was given the Best Ultra Compact Digital Camera award, a 2008 TIPA spokesman said, “If you compare the Samsung NV24HD with other digital cameras, its HD technology is by far superior. It demonstrates this with its next-generation H.264 video standard as well as supporting 1280x720p and 30fps to shoot clear HD quality stereo videos and providing a feature for enjoying FULL HD pictures.” He added, “The Samsung NV24HD compact camera is equipped with a special 24mm ultra wide angle lens. The lens was specially designed to minimize distorting effects and maximize the wide angle effect. It also received high marks for being the world’s first digital camera to utilize a next generation AM OLED display.”
In addition, the Samsung NV24HD has an upgraded face detection feature and a cutting-edge self portrait feature that emits a 2-stage sound when the user's face is properly in the frame while taking a self portrait. Also, it has useful features such as a Blink Detection feature that takes three continuous pictures when it senses that the subject’s eyes are closed and then chooses a picture where the eyes are not closed, as well as a Smile Shot feature that automatically detects when the subject is smiling and takes a picture.
Regarding the reception of the 2008 TIPA award, a Samsung Techwin representative said, “Because Samsung Techwin products have been recognized as the best multimedia digital cameras in 2006 and 2007, we have solidly established trust in the field of multimedia digital camera convergence, and by receiving the award for the ultra compact digital camera of 2008, we have firmly established ourselves as the company with the world's best technology in the compact digital camera field."
